Overview

A multinational group undertook a global ERP transformation, migrating several business units from legacy systems SAP. The aim was to streamline operations, improve data consistency, and support global standardization. Our initial project was the only regional migration delivered on time. Following this achievement, we were asked to take over and successfully turn around another migration that had fallen behind, applying the same proven approach.

Our approach

Brigital supported the migration by building a custom data pipeline that ensured a smooth transition from legacy systems to SAP. The core of our solution included:

1. Mapping Rules

Defined and documented mappings between source system tables and SAP target tables.

Created reusable mapping files for nomenclature translation and field alignment.

2. Transformation Scripts

Developed Python scripts to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data.
Standardized data structure and nomenclature to SAP format.
Automatically generated SAP-compatible upload templates.

3. Iterative Test Migrations

Conducted multiple trial runs, each migrating a larger set of tables.
Verified output in SAP after each test, refining scripts and mappings as needed.
Built confidence and accuracy ahead of the final cutover.

4. Final Migration Over Holiday Period

Executed full migration during the Christmas shutdown period.
Ensured that users could start using SAP from the first day of the new year.

5. Follow-Up Migration Support

Our first project was the only regional migration completed on time.
Based on success, we were asked to step in and rescue another delayed migration, applying the same process to deliver successfully.
