Overview
As our first major customer, MAHLE SmartBike Systems partnered with us to lead a full transformation toward becoming a data-driven organization. This project spanned the entire company and involved every department—from Supply Chain and Quality to Sales, R&D, and Service.
Strategy and KPI Alignment
We began by co-creating a structured program to define strategic goals and KPIs across all departments. Each department was engaged to deeply understand their challenges and needs. This formed the foundation for a company-wide transformation driven by measurable outcomes.

Data Infrastructure Setup
We identified and connected all critical data sources required for real-time reporting and decision-making:
- ERP systems
- Market research platforms
- Service ticketing tools
- Internal Excel-based processes
- Quality inspection systems
A custom data warehouse was then implemented to serve as the central source of truth.


Department-Specific Dashboards
Custom dashboards were developed for each team:
- Supply Chain: Inventory forecasting, PO tracking, product availability
- Quality: Automated KPI tracking, defect analysis, predictive failure detection
- Service: Retailer feedback monitoring, agent performance tracking
- Controlling: Forecast automation, R&D budget oversight
- Strategy: Market position benchmarking and product comparison tools
- Purchasing: Cost/margin trends and supplier analysis
Each report was built with daily operations and strategic decision-making in mind, replacing ad hoc Excel analysis with a single version of the truth.

Management Cockpit
An executive overview dashboard was created to summarize performance across all departments. This management cockpit enabled weekly and monthly meetings to be based on live, consistent data rather than outdated reports or anecdotal insights.

Tangible Impact
In producing the reports, the company started to see tangible impact in each area as they gainer control over each respective department. Below is an example in the Supply Chain area.
Supply Chain Optimization
Data Quality Cleanup
With reporting built on top of the ERP data quality issues became much clearer and we were able to identify issues and set KPIs to clean data quality and ensure that ERP data was reliable.
Automated Reporting
With cleaned and accurate data automated reports with visual interfaces were able to show what purchase orders needed to be removed/adjusted/added to optimise inventory.
Avoided 2023 overstock crisis
After a semiconductor shortage halting sales in the prior year many bike companies overordered and ran into major cashflow issues as bike sales leading to bankruptcies.
The inventory report supported the service team in preventing an overstock and keeping cashflow stable
Reliable Delivery
While keeping an inventory at a minimum the BI solution allowed our customer to ensure it would meet customer demand and ensure customer satisfaction and growth.
CONCLUSION
Through this end-to-end BI system, MAHLE SmartBike Systems has transitioned to a data-first culture. This transformation has enabled smarter operations, better financial performance, and cross-team alignment.
